HIV
Technology
RFS Pharma will utilize proven technology to develop
new drugs for the treatment of HIV infections. Our scientists have a great deal of experience with
nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). The reverse
transcriptase (RT) is necessary for viral
replication. RFSP has several RT inhibitors that were invented by Dr.
Schinazi and his colleagues at Emory
University
and the University
of
Georgia. The lead drug, currently in Phase 2, is Amdoxovir® (AMDX, DAPD), a nucleoside
that demonstrates good viral load reduction in the presence or absence of the key
mutations responsible for the lack of response observed with other antiretrovirals.
It should therefore offer an improvement over current methods of
treatment.
Amdoxovir® is currently in late stage Phase 2 clinical trials under a US Investigational New
Drug Application (IND).

Hepatitis
Technology
RFS
Pharma will in-license technology that is non-toxic and effective at reducing
viral load for hepatitis. Amdoxovir® has activity against HIV and HBV
in cell culture and in humans. RFS Pharma is evaluating opportunities to
in-license compounds that complement this product and that could be used in
fixed dose combinations.
Other In-License and Discovery Projects
RFS
Pharma
is continuing to develop new chemical entities in its discovery laboratories
based in Tucker, Georgia. This will lead to new patentable technologies.
